الوصف:

Première Urgence – Aide Médicale Internationale (PU-AMI) is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious humanitarian NGO. Its objective is to provide a comprehensive response, in line with humanitarian principles and applying both needs based and rights based approaches, to conflict affected populations. PU-AMI promotes humanitarian access and dialogue with all components of the civil society and reinforces the capacity of each vulnerable community (refugees, vulnerable host community) to become self-reliant and resilient, by responding to immediate needs and strengthening their socio-economic empowerment.  

Today, PU-AMI is intervening in 21 countries in Africa, the Near East, Caucasus, Asia and the Caribbean to cover the needs of populations affected by conflict, natural disasters or economic crises.

PU-AMI in Lebanon has been implementing emergency and recovery projects in Shelter, Protection, Health and Food Security Livelihood Recovery sectors.

OVERALL MISSION

1- GENERAL OBJECTIVE

Under the direct supervision of the Community Health Team Manager, the Community Health and Nutrition Officer is responsible for the set-up, monitoring, evaluation, and administration of all community health and nutrition interventions and outreach activities, as based on PU-AMI’s health strategy of program/project activities in the areas of intervention.

2- RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

 1.  ENSURE PROPER IMPLEMENTATION OF ACTIVITIES

  1. Lead the scale up plan for developing the community health and nutrition network in the areas assigned in the project intervention framework;
  2. Lead the implementation of Community Health and Nutrition activities assigned that are in accordance with the project’s outlined activities;
  3. Assist in the preparation and provision of training activities to community based nurses and midwives on community health and nutrition related topics;
  4. Be responsible for the follow up on the implementation of all community activities conducted by community Midwives and Nurses at Community level;
  5. Monitor the proper implementation of community Midwife and Nurses activities at household level by following outlined guidelines;
  6. Ensure proper documentation for home-based midwifery and nursing activities;
  7. Report immediately any difficulties or delays faced in the implementation of activities to the line manager;
  8. Cooperate with the MEAL Department to facilitate and conduct MEAL related activities (i.e. surveys, field feedbacks, and lessons learnt exercise, etc.);
  9. Liaise with the IM Officer to make sure data registration is accurate on hard and digital copies;
  10. Participate in the preparation of training modules for building the capacity of the CHNWs;
  11. Monitor Community Health and Nutrition Clubs’ sessions and provide feedback to CHNWs to improve their performance;
  12. Prepare monthly incentive financial report for the CHNWs and submit to line manager.

 

2. TEAM MANAGEMENT

In Coordination with PHCC focal point:

  1. Supervision of community based Nurses and Midwives to ensure the timely implementation of their activities;
  2. Follow-up on the Community Midwives and Nurses’ work plans, progress toward targets, and frequency of submitting the collected data;
  3. Ensure coordination with PHCC and PU-AMI Staff and stakeholders concerning community intervention activities;
  4. Conduct routine field visits to monitor Community Midwives and Nurses Assistant activities;
  5. Continuously collect feedback from Community Midwives and Nurses.

 

2. LOGISTIC & ADMINISTRATION

  1. Define the needs in materials and tools required to conduct community based activities by community based midwives and nurses;
  2. Organize and coordinate training sessions: venue, attendees and support materials.

 

3. REPORTING & DATA COLLECTION

  1. Collect and report information on beneficiaries reached through community based Midwives and Nurses activities;
  2. Identify the number of reached beneficiaries- through coordination with community midwives and nurses;
  3. Document and report feedback from community Midwives and Nurses on community led interventions;
  4. Be responsible for compiling and reporting to the line manager the data on a weekly, monthly, quarter and annual basis or upon request reserved.

QUALIFICATIONS

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Language skills: Fluent in English and Arabic
  2. Education degree: Bachelors of Science in Midwife. Master’s in Public Health is an asset.
  3. Work experience: Proven experience for 1 to 2 years working in NGOs and community health.
  4. Knowledge and skills:
    • Good knowledge of the governorate of activities implementation with the willingness to travel and move for the scope of the work;
    • Excellent experience in conducting trainings at community level and monitoring teams;
    • Excellent communication (especially in public) and diplomacy skills to manage relationship in potentially tense situations
    • Literacy in reporting, experience in conducting surveys
  5. Computer skills: Excellent knowledge of the MS office software including Word, Excel, Outlook
  6. Others:
      • Valid driving license (minimum 1 year)
      • Management and pedagogical skills
      • Good knowledge of North Lebanon’s geography and context, willing to travel locally
      • Reporting skills/experience
